Our take aways from the Stockholm Tech Show

At the beginning of this month, some of our colleagues joined the Stockholm Tech Show. An interesting two-day event that brought together more than 4,500 visitors, 800+ seminar participants and 250 exhibitors. It was a reality check on the future of technology and a look at what’s already here. We asked our colleagues who attended to share their biggest takeaways and it’s safe to say they came back with fresh insights, new energy and a deeper curiosity!

AI Agents are coming and they’re smarter than you think

We’ve been hearing about AI for years. Prediction tools, chatbots, language models. But what’s next is something far more autonomous: AI agents.

These aren’t tools that wait for prompts. They’re systems that think, decide and act. All of this on their own. From automating complex workflows to making informed decisions, these agents will start taking over tasks that previously needed human input. The potential to streamline business operations and reduce friction is huge. And it’s happening faster than many realise.

Simplicity > Complexity

Great products don’t start with everything. They start with something clear and useful.

Take the iPhone: it started as a combination of a phone, internet browser and music player. That simplicity replaced a backpack full of expensive gadgets. Over time, new features were added. First a camera, then a wallet, a GPS,... But always by solving one specific problem at a time. The best innovations don’t overcomplicate. They solve, iterate and evolve.

That initial focus creates value. Add complexity later, if it’s needed. But always build on top of something that works. It’s a reminder we take to heart as we design our own smart software solutions at AMOTEK.

The hidden cost of AI

The promise of AI is big. But so is it’s energy bill. As we scale AI, we also scale the data centers that power it. That brings up real questions around sustainability, energy efficiency and long-term impact.

At the Stockholm Tech Show, this wasn’t a side note. It was a major theme. From energy-efficient infrastructure to circular design and green IT, there’s a clear push to make tech more responsible. Efficiency is no longer just about cost, it’s about climate.

AI, cybersecurity & what’s at stake

One of the most eye-opening sessions was led by General Patrick Huston, a cybersecurity expert and former U.S. Army Brigadier General. He painted a powerful picture of how AI is changing the landscape of global security from defending against attacks to enabling new threats like deepfakes and autonomous weapon systems.

He also highlighted the role of quantum computing, which could soon break traditional encryption methods. His takeaway? Responsible tech development is urgent. Cybersecurity can’t be an afterthought, it needs to be embedded from day one.

That mindset is one we fully embrace at AMOTEK. Every software solution we build comes with security baked in. From user management and authentication to scalable infrastructure and smart monitoring. Because real innovation can only thrive when it's built on trust.

From Buzzwords to Business

The closing keynote by Yuraimi Abreu, AI strategist at Google, brought it all together. Her message was simple: digital transformation is happening right now and is no longer a future ambition.

Through AI, businesses are simplifying complexity, accelerating growth and reshaping entire industries. But the difference-maker isn’t the technology itself, it’s how strategically it’s applied. Innovation without clarity is noise. Strategy is what makes it work.

So what’s next?

The Stockholm Tech Show reminded us that the future isn’t something to wait for, it’s already here. From AI agents and cybersecurity to sustainable innovation and real-world transformation, the themes are clear.

Feeling inspired too? Or wondering how to bring some of these ideas into your own business? We’re always up for a conversation! No buzzwords, no pressure. Just honest ideas about building smart, sustainable tech.
